Case study – Târnăveni Municipal Hospital

1. Context and challenges

At the beginning of the project, the Târnăveni Municipal Hospital website had an outdated design, built without attention to modern UX/UI principles. The structure of the site was not optimized for mobile devices, and the poor choice of colors and fonts made navigation difficult and exhausting. Additionally, users faced major issues accessing essential information, and the website had minimal functionality, which did not meet the requirements of a modern digital experience.

2. Redesign objectives

The redesign project focused on creating a modern digital experience that would reflect the professionalism of the hospital. By integrating the institution’s color palette from the brandbook, we were able to provide a fresh and coherent look. The priority was to make the website fully mobile responsive, ensuring that essential information was easy to find. We paid special attention to optimizing load speed and intuitive navigation so that every user could quickly access the necessary information.

3. The redesign process

The complete redesign involved using a custom builder and technologies like PHP, CSS, and JavaScript to provide total flexibility in terms of the website’s appearance and functionality. We radically transformed the old structure and design, creating a user-friendly and visually appealing platform. Additionally, this revamp aimed to reflect our agency’s philosophy — to improve and reinvent clients’ online presence by providing them with personalized and efficient solutions.

4. Comparing the old vs. new scheduling system

The old online appointment system was limited to a simple dropdown menu, where users selected the clinic and date from a basic calendar. This system did not display the doctors’ schedules or available time slots, which often led to overlapping appointments when multiple patients were scheduled for the same time slot. The new system addresses these issues, offering advanced functionalities that adapt to the patient’s selections. Users can now see only the available time slots for the selected clinic and doctor, completely eliminating the risk of overlaps and providing a much more organized and efficient experience. Additionally, patients receive confirmation and notifications via SMS and email, and the platform allows for appointment management at different access levels, ensuring that only authorized staff can view and edit appointments.

5. Results and impact

The results have been positive from both the hospital staff and patients. After implementing the new system, the staff received dedicated training to familiarize themselves with the interface and backend functionalities. The adaptation process was easy, thanks to the simplified and intuitive structure of the platform. Furthermore, patients noticed how easy it was to make online appointments without the risk of overlaps or confusion. The SMS and email confirmation system, along with reminder notifications, increased overall satisfaction and reduced the number of missed appointments.
